Boat race in Dighalipukhuri

GUWAHATI, Jan 19: A traditiol boat race was organized in Dighaliphukhuri in Guwahati on Friday. It was iugurated by State Cultural Affairs Minister ba Kumar Doley.

From organizers Shayamkanu Mahanta said: “This is the festival to promote State’s culture and tradition amongst the youth. We’ve a three-day programme that will also showcase special drama on Sankardev and Bor Axom. Tourists from Delhi, Mumbai and Cheni have arrived in the city to enjoy the event.” The tourists are set to visit the Kaziranga tiol Park and other tourist spots in the State, he said, and added: “In today’s competition sailors came from lbari, Hajo, Barpeta and a few other places.”
