Book on diverse lyrics of Bhupendra Sangeet

GUWAHATI, Sept 10: Bhupendra Sangeet: Bygyan Prajukti Durjyog Santasbad, a book on science and technology, disaster magement, terrorism and industrialization reflected in various songs of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika authored by Dr. Jatindra Deka was released at Gauhati Press Club recently.  Singer and writer Ramen Das, who chaired the book release function, spoke on the balladeer’s lyrics on diverse fields at different times. Senior jourlist Biraj Das said that the songs of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika are in sync with society and environment, and hence memorable. “Dr. Deka’s book has a unique thinking on the philosophical and logical ideas of Dr. Hazarika. The balladeer’s songs on terrorism, disaster magement and science and technology will remain an asset in Assamese literature.” Geographer Phani Deka, former AIR, Guwahati director AR Phathak and others also spoke on the occasion.
