Bora and Saikia accompany Meera Kumar in filing papers

GUWAHATI, June 28: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora and the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Debabrata Saikia today accompanied Meera Kumar who filed her nomition papers for the presidential election as the candidate of the Opposition today. After the filing of the nomition, Bora said: “The BJP did seek a consensus candidate for the post of President. However, the ruling party med its candidate without waiting for the consensus at last. That shouldn’t be the attitude of the ruling party. The gesture from the BJP left us with no option but to field our own candidate.”
Meera Kumar is also a Dalit candidate.
