Border row: BJP blames Congress

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Nov 22: The Assam BJP has blamed it on the Congress for the long-pending border dispute between Assam and galand.

The saffron party in a statement on Wednesday alleged that the dispute between the two states has remained unsolved due to wrong policies of the previous Congress Government.

At a time when various organizations in Assam are staging protests against the Centre as well as State government for not maintaining clarity and transparency over the issue of Greater galim and ga Framework Agreement, tension has started escalating along Assam-galand border following iuguration of a new subdivision for Wokha district in galand at Uriamghat in Golaghat district along the inter-State border.

“galand has mastered courage to set up subdivision in the land of Assam due to handing over Assam’s land to the neighboring state without any objection by previous Congress government. Now, congress should tender apology for its past mistake,” the statement added.  The BJP further said that not a single inch of Assam’s land will be given to galand. Earlier, AGP also slammed the Congress for the border dispute.

AGP spokesperson Manoj Saikia had said: “The Assam-galad border has been tense over the years due to opportunistic policies of the Congress that let people from galand to encroach upon Assam land.”
