Brahmaputra Heritage to be open for visitors

GUWAHATI, April 21: The State has got another historic architecture. This imperial wonder is located atop a hill facing the Brahmaputra near Panbajar. Well-known as Bahniman or the Brahmaputra Heritage Centre, this heritage building was constructed during the British Raj.  It will be kept open for domestic as well as foreign visitors from later part of this April.  Since the post-independent period, Bahniman was provisioned to accommodate the Deputy Commissioner of the Kamrup district of Assam. In 2012, the Government of Assam decided to restore the partial ruin with an estimate of Rs 9 crore so as to preserve the reminiscence attached with it and to keep it open for public view.
