Under the aegis of Aarani, a social organization located at Maligaon here, a Deepawali celebration programme was organized at Kamakhya in collaboration with the inmates of the BSF transit camp there. The jawans, who have been staying away from their families for the security of the tion, had the taste of mingling with the civil society. They sang a number of patriotic songs and took part in the cultural programme actively. They also took part in a number of competitions organized on the occasion. They were given away prizes by Aarani.

As part of the celebration all the sides of the campus was lighted with earthen lamps.
