BTAD TET teachers working without salaries for 15 months

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, August 29: Contractual TET teachers appointed in the elementary schools in the four BTAD districts have got their salaries for the past 15 months. So far, they have got salaries of only three months in 19 months since joining.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, All BTAD LP & UP Contractual TET Teachers’ Association general secretary Sanjay Sutradhar said: “We’re appointed on February 10, 2015 for a term of six months at Rs 8,000 a month. However, the government has extended our contract terms three times. Since joining, we have been deceived both by Dispur and the BTC. They’re conspicuous by their silence on regularization of our jobs. Against such deception, we had to stage a protest on September 5 at Kajalgaon. If the authorities don’t do anything worthwhile, we’re going to start a cease work to be followed by fasting. If such agitations don’t bear any fruit, we’ll have to give our appointment letters back to the government.”
