'Buy only hand-woven gamosa, not machine-made'

GUWAHATI, March 30: The magement of the Bipan Khetra in the city has appealed all the people to use and buy only the ethnic Assamese hand-woven ‘Gamosa’ from the market on this Rongali Bihu in the state.

Opening the Rongalir Bazar Mahotsav in the city today, the organizers said: “We appeal to the people of the state to buy and use only the ethnic hand-woven gamosa during this Bihu. Gamosa is a reserved item exclusively for handloom, and it is a cognizable offence to produce it in power loom.”
