BYST conducts road shows on entrepreneurship

GUWAHATI, May 31: Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST), a non-profit organization guiding budding entrepreneurs to create viable enterprises, recently conducted an entrepreneurship awareness drive through road shows across the State under 100 per cent funding support from Employment Generation Mission, Assam. Drives  were conducted in Jorhat, Cachar, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts.

The primary objective of the road show was to generate awareness amongst the participants regarding the end-to-end support provided by BYST in a host of business related activities such as fince, training, support, mentoring and networking. The road shows were also used as platforms to inform the participants about the Business Idea Contest launched by BYST in Assam.

Officials and mentors from BYST urged the participants to participate in the contest by coming forward with creative and viable business ideas. The top three business ideas would be awarded with cash prizes worth over Rs 1 Lakh, apart from district-level prizes. Over 500 budding entrepreneurs, students from colleges and educatiol institutions and NGO representatives participated in the road shows and meets held at different venues.

Commenting on the semir, Md. Hasib, regiol coorditor, BYST, Assam said: “The semirs were aimed at encouraging youths to think out of the box and apply for business idea contest thereby, giving a boost to the entrepreneurial culture of Assam”. BYST mentors Surjya Phukan (retd.GM-SBI), advocate VK Dewan, BP Bakshi (Assam Productivity Council- Tinsukia), MP Agarwal (AIMO, Tinsukia) and Masood Khan (Dibrugarh) took part in the meets at different locations and motivated the youths to come forward with their business ideas.
