GUWAHATI, Nov 6: The Prakriti Suraksha Parishad (PSP) has called for conservation of forests and urged the people of the State to be aware of the importance of afforestation. “People should keep in mind that their developments don’t harm the forest and animals. They have equal rights in this world as we have. Importance of trees is vital for living beings to survive. People should keep in mind that the illegal constructions all over have jeopardized lives of species living in wetlands and forests. The rampant air pollution which leads to diseases is caused by felling of trees,” PSP president Mojibur Rahman said at a press briefing at Dispur Press club today. “We have decided to stop the poaching of rhinos. It was high time for the people of the state realized that the pride of Assam is in grave danger,” Rahman added. PSP director Tapan Kakoty was also present at the press meet.
