GUWAHATI Nov 12: A discussion on strengthening of vercular medium institutions and future of language, culture and community took place at the 18th Northeast Book Fair. “Due to the patroge of the State Government there is mushroom growth of private institutions in the State. Despite the implementation of RMSA and SSA, one or two teachers have to take four to five classes in primary schools. Quality education is not imparted in the primary schools in the State which is why guardians choose privatize institutions over vercular schools,” High School Teachers’ Association Pravin Saikia said. “The Assamese language will not perish so far Assamese-speaking people are alive. The vercular teachers have to take the responsibility of teaching the language in correct form. The students of the vercular schools have to be motivated towards practicing creative literature. It is also necessary for students to get acquainted with the literature great Assamese writers,” SEBA secretary Kamal Gogoi said.
