GUWAHATI, August 24: A fish trader of Betkuchi wholesale fish market, Jaydhan Konwar, moved Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi with an application demanding cancellation of the registration of the Forum for Conscious Citizens (FCC) for, what he said, its illegal practice of collecting goonda tax from fish traders. Konwar, in a statement issued to the press today, said: “Forum for Conscious Citizens (FCC) president Utpal Das harasses us by forcibly collecting money from us in the me of the forum. When I filed a case against Das he was arrested with two of his associates. They are now in the central jail. The organization is not a genuine one, and it continues with fake documents. We, therefore, demand the cancellation of the registration of the organization. In this regard, I have already sent an application the Chief Minister.”
