CCSU presents PG degrees to 1,500

GUWAHATI, May 28: Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma put to rest all speculations today when he said that Cotton College and Cotton College State University (CCSU) would be one entity – Cotton University— from June 1 this year. The minister dropped this bombshell at the first convocation of CCSU held at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra at Panjabari in the city today. As many as 1,500 students were given postgraduate degrees in various disciplines for the academic session 2015-2017 by the minister at the convocation today.

Present at the convocation were former UGC chairman Ved Praksh and CCSU vice chancellor Dr. Dhrubajyoti Saikia.

Sarma further said that such functions would help the University make strides in academic pursuits.
