CCUS for punishment to culprits, inquiry into attack on college

GUWAHATI, August 13: The Cotton College Union Society (CCUS) today said that if any students of Cotton College were involved in the fracas near Guwahati Railway Station from 11 pm on August 11, then it is condemble.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, CCUS general secretary Amlanjyoti Deori said: “We’re worried over the incident of a jourlist receiving injury in the incident. We want punishment to those involved in the incident. However, there was a conspiracy in the attack on Cotton College at noon on August 12. A jourlist is behind the attack. We want an inquiry into the incident.”

Meanwhile, Kamrup(M) district administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the clash between cabbies and autorickshaw drivers in which some students of Cotton College were embroiled. Guwahati Revenue Circle Officer-cum-executive magistrate Lakshmindn Saharia has been asked to conduct the inquiry and submit the report within seven days.
