Centre reviews State MGNREGA works

GUWAHATI, May 6: Aparajita Sarangi, Joint Secretary, (MGNREGA), Union Ministry of Rural Development, took stock of MGNREGA implementation in Assam at Lokapriya Gopith Bordoloi Intertiol Airport today.
Sarangi, who is on an official visit to Aruchal Pradesh along with other 12 delegates, met the officials of the State Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) at LGBI Airport today in her way back to Delhi. In the two-and-half-an-hour meeting she reviewed the progress of MGNREGA programme in Assam.
State P&RD Commissioner Dr. JB Ekka briefed Sarangi the initiatives taken up by the department to expedite implementation of the ongoing schemes across the state. Expressing her satisfaction at the state Government’s initiatives Sarangi assured Ekka that the Centre would release the required fund to complete the schemes of 2015-16 under MGNREGA which are lying incomplete. She asked the Department to complete these schemes by June 2017.
Other officials of State P&RD, including Additiol Commissioner K Pegu, Joint Director I Laskar, N Bhagawati, were present at the meeting.
