GUWAHATI, April 7: Responding to the call of the Nikhil Bharat Motor Poribohon Congress (NBMPC), the All Assam Motor Transport Association (AAMTA) is going to observe a 24-hour chakka bandh from 6 am of April 10 to 6 am of April 11. Talking to the press at Guwahati Press Club here today, AAMTA secretary general Pradip Das said: “Even since the UPA Government formed the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) of India, both commercial and private vehicle have been staggering under the increasing burden of third party premium (TPP). Sniffing a hike of 50 per cent TPP from April 1, 2017, the leaders of the NBMPC met Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on March 20, 2017 and handed over a memorandum, but to no avail.”
