GUWAHATI, Oct 24: Brihattar Asomiya Mohila Manch (BAMM) has leveled a slew of allegations against Boko Police Station OC Hriday Kalita, ASI Kamdev Kalita and SI Ariful Haque saying that the trio has polluted the social environment there.
Talking to newsmen at Guwahati Press Club on Tuesday the leaders of the Manch said that illegal activities like gambling, teer, timber and coal smuggling, flesh trade etc., were taking place in the area under the very nose of the OC of the police station. They handed over video and audio clips corroborating their allegations against the OC to the media at the press meet.
One of the leaders of the Manch said: “The OC of the police station appeared all of a sudden when we were holding a meeting against illegal activities taking place in the area and scolded us with filthy words. He drove us away from the meeting. We did lodge a complaint each to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, the DGP and the Police Accountability Commission against the OC on September 12, 2017. Prior to that people of Boko Barpara did send an allegation against the OC to the DGP. However, no action has been taken against the OC as yet. The OC tortured the family members of Bharat Boro and Gulam Mustaf Ahmed for helping us to submit the complaints against him to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and others.”
A woman victim who was also present at the press meet said: “I saw two men – Amit Rabha and Siraj Rabha – beating up my husband badly with sharp weapons on October 1, 2017. I was supposed to lodge an FIR in the evening on October 2. However, I came to know that my husband was arrested by the police by then. The OC then visited me in the evening and advised me to mutually settle the case or else my husband would be behind bars for a longer period. On October 8 I went to the PS with two other women to lodge an FIR. The OC tore the FIR and said it isn’t Bangladesh.”
