Chetia-led team meets Hazela on NRC

GUWAHATI, Oct 4: A 17-member delegation of Indigenous Forum, Assam (IFA), led by its chief convenor Anup Chetia, met NRC chief coorditor Pratik Hazela at his office in the city on Wednesday with a memorandum on NRC update. The delegation raised three demands – publication of a correct and transparent NRC by December this year, stringent steps to prevent inclusion of foreigners’ mes in the NRC and in accordance with the SC order identification of family trees of the people of Assam.

Talking to newsmen after the meeting, Hazela said: “The draft NRC will be published on December 31 this year in accordance with the directive of the Supreme Court. All NRC-related works are at their fil stage.”
