Child Protection Day observed

GUWAHATI, March 4: Around 500 participants from various government schools, Childline, specialized adoption agencies, Snehalaya, ICCW, NCLP centres , students of Bal Bhawan, parents and teachers took part in the state-level Child Protection Day organized by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) in collaboration with State Child Protection Society (SCPU) with support from UNICEF, Assam. Kamrup(M) DC M Angamuthu was also present on the occasion. He hailed the efforts of DCPU, SCPU and UNICEF for holding the progrramme and said that such programmes are important to generate awareness to address child-related issues. A film on child marriage was screened by the students of State Bal Bhawan. A documentary on child-related issues was screened by Childline, besides various other programmes by children. UNICEF chief of field office Tushar Rane and Assam Joint Secretary Bibhas Modi were also present on the occasion.
