Children book festival

GUWAHATI, Oct 6: Anewesha, a socio-cultural organization, is going to organize the 11th festival of books for children at AEI Filed at Chandmari in the city from October 9 to 18. Anwesha president Paresh Malakar said in a press conference in Guwahati Press Club today: "We are organizing this festival to expose our children to the exciting world of books and inculcate the habit of reading among them. The pavilion, where various events of the festival will be organized, has been med after litterateur late Lummer Dai of Aruchal Pradesh and the central theme of the festival will be WASH (Water, sanitation and hygiene), on which three picture books developed on wash will also be released in collaboration of UNICEF. Various programmes would be conducted during the festival like workshops on story telling, art and science and library, video conference with the institute of Plasma research of Ahmedabad through centre for Plasma Physics, competitions and others." Malakar also said: "With the help of various NGOs, the children of various parts of the state will also participate in the festival. The tea community children will also come from various places and conduct some special activities." Chief Guest Hare Krish Deka said: "The children of the city have become much enthusiastic about the book festival nowadays, and I appreciate this noble step of Anwesha. We have vast scarcity of libraries in the schools of the state and this festival will help them a lot."
