CITU demands revival of paper mills

GUWAHATI, June 20:  The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), the Assam chapter today expressed grave concern over the apathetic attitude of the Centre towards the public sector industries in the State. The unions alleged that the policies adopted by the earlier government were not in favour of the overall development of the state. Taking out a protest march at Dighalipukhuripar, CITU demanded immediate measures for revival of both the units of Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) of Jagiroad and Panchgram, to stop any move of sale out of these units, no privatization of any public sector units in Assam and to pay all outstanding dues of the workers and employees.
