GUWAHATI, Jan 4: As a part of Guwahati Municipal Corporation’s (GMC) preparations for Swach Survekshan 2018 the selected apartments of the city are going to participate in the competition to select the cleanest apartment of the city.

Speaking to this reporter, GMC Commissioner Molisa Goswami said, “Our main objective is to make the city cleaner and healthier. However, we’re also preparing hard to be ranked as the cleanest city amongst the 4,021 cities of the country competing for Swachh Survekshan 2018. So, we have laid some criteria for the apartments under the category of Resident Welfare Association (RWA).” “There have to be two separate bins in each apartment for throwing dry and wet waste separately. Twin bins shall be placed and segregation shall be available within the premise. There shall be processing facility like availability of onsite composting. We’ll look about their cleanliness inside and outside the campus and also toilet facilities.”

Goswami also said that a city-based survey would be conducted by GMC to assess the cleanest school, hotel, hospital, market association and RWA in the city and recognize the winners in the said categories.
