Girl rescued from WB

GUWAHATI, Feb 13: Dispur police rescued a minor girl (17), who had been abducted from Japorigog in Guwahati on November 22, 2017, from Asansol in West Bengal. A team of Dispur Police led by ASI Ghakanta Deori left for West Bengal on February 9, started their operation on February 10, rescued the girl on February 11 and came back to Guwahati with the girl on February 12. The police, however, failed to capture the youth, Bishnu Gam, who had abducted the girl.

Man hacks wife to death

GUWAHATI, Feb 13: Biswa Das (43) of Botaghuli at Panjabari under Satgaon Police Station in Guwahati hacked his wife Surushi Das (38) to death by hitting her with an axe repeatedly on Tuesday. The police bbed Biswa Das when he was absconding, and recovered the sharp weapon used in the killing. He is under police custody.

Looting of petrol depot

GUWAHATI, Feb 13: A person, Sankar Kutum, filed a case (94/18) at Hatigaon police station in Guwahati on Tuesday stating that a gang of armed dacoits filled their vehicle with fuel from Kiran Service Station at Wireless on Beltola Road on Monday night, broke the CCTV camera installed at the depot and decamped with cash. The gang, according to the FIR, included two former workers of the depot. The police arrested the two former workers – Rajkapur Mandal and Jitendra Mandal.

Manvik case: More arrests

GUWAHATI, Feb 13: Dispur police arrested two more youths in connection with the abduction of Manvik Sura. Manvik, a five-year-old boy with speech problem, was abducted from a city school recently. The two youths, who were arrested on Monday night, are Bipul Mandal (27) and yan Barkakati (30), both hailing from Boko. The SIM card that was used by the abductor had been taken from this duo.
