City dwellers get a respite of scorching heat

GUWAHATI, June 20: The residents of Guwahati had a harrowing time in the past three days with the rise in temperature and humidity. They, however, got a respite from 2 pm today when a cold breeze blew over the city. There was scorching sunshine right from the morning till 2 pm today. Meanwhile, the district administration is apprehensive of its preparation for the Ambubachi Mela being affected if there is rainfall in the next 20 hours. The administration is taking all possible measures to make the Ambubachi Mela a grand success, right from transportation of pilgrims, their shelter, food and drinks, sanitary facilities for them, preventing environmental pollution during the Mela, etc.
