City organization spreads organ dotion awareness

GUWAHATI, Aug 10: Zublee Foundation, an organization working for the organ dotion awareness in the Northeastern region, for the first time organized a run med “Organothon” recently for raising mass awareness and encouraging organ dotion among the people.

The run was flagged off by SP Partha Sarathi Mahanta at 6:30 am at AEI ground in Chandmari of the city.

The run witnessed around 300 participants who hailed from different districts of the State. Apart from Guwahati, there were runners from Cheni, Sadiya, Tinsukia, Darrang, Hajo, Karbi Anglong, Sivasagar, Golaghat, Jorhat, Morigaon and so on.

The objective of Organothon was to reach out to masses with the concept of organ dotion. The event was graced by the presence of a number of well known people from Assam like Rajnish Goswami (The First Assamese to win Ironman at South Africa), Mahadev Deka (Mr Universe 2009), Dr Hitesh Barua (MD, NEMCARE hospitals), Dr. AK Adhikary ( Chief Superintendent and Principal of Gauhati Medical College), Dr.vaneet Mahanta (GNRC), Indrani Baruah (SSP), Barli Sharma (ADC), renowned Musician JP Das, actor Diganta Hazarika, actor Siddhartha Mukherjee, choreographer Pankaj Ingti and singer Emon Bordoloi.  The first three runners who completed the run were Kamal Ali from Hajo, Harata Kro from Karbi Anglong and Safiqul Islam from Boko respectively. They were presented with trophies, finisher certificates and t-shirts.

Other participants were given participation certificates. Through this event Zublee Foundation wanted people to understand and support the cause of organ dotion, and also had a focus to grab attention of the Government to take necessary steps to make Cadaver Organ Dotion possible in Assam and also the seven other States of North-east India. Organothon was a big success and will be organized on this particular date every year, said singer Zublee Baruah, head of Zublee Foundation.
