GUWAHATI, Sept 24: The Lakhimi path of Beltola area which connects Beltola via Kailash gar to Hatigaon is in a dilapidated condition since several years and is in need of urgent repair.
Beltola is one of the prime area of the city and Lakhimi path house several educatiol institutions and marriage halls. The path which was last repaired way back in 1994-95, continues to be hazardous for commuters.
“The guard walls of the respective drains collapsed the day after they were constructed. The residents are even ready to sign as witnesses. The repairing was done by a local contractor. Several parties had taken measurement of the road many times but no construction has taken place so far. We want to know under whose aegis the construction and repair of the road is under process. Whether it is GMC or PWD?” Chandra Kalita, a dejected local resident asked.
During rainy season the road seems to be at worst condition as open drains overflow. School going students and residents continue to bear the brunt as rickshaws charge exorbitant amount to cross the muddy road during the rainy days. Local residents were also unhappy as the adjacent road which connects BeltolaTiniali via Bhetapara to Hatigaon was repaired few years back.
