Civil Aviation Minister, Sonowal discuss issues to boost connectivity

GUWAHATI, August 31: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayanta Sinha on Tuesday met Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal at Brahmaputra State Guest House in Guwahati as they talked on issues pertaining to regiol connectivity and boosting cargo infrastructure in the State.  Sonowal requested the Civil Aviation Minister to take steps to increase frequency of passenger flights in the region so that connectivity issues can be addressed. He also said that considering the region’s locatiol disadvantages regular flights connecting the major cities of the region would remove the connectivity bottlenecks, a press release said.  Drawing attention of the Union Civil Aviation Minister, Chief Minister Sonowal said that improving regiol connectivity would also serve as a catalyst to Prime Minister rendra Modi’s ‘Act East Policy’ to open new vistas of partnership in the Asia-Pacific Region. Jayanta Sinha assured the Chief Minister that his Ministry would look into all aspects sympathetically and will take appropriate steps to increase frequency of flights and would do the needful for development of the cargo infrastructure in the State. Commerce and Industries Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary was also present at the meeting, the release added.
