Cleanliness drive to mark end of Ambubachi Mela

GUWAHATI, June 25: The Kamrup (M) district administration, in association with Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and the Kamakhya Temple Magement Committee, have decided to organize a cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in as many as ten areas in the city from 7 am on June 28.

The cleanliness drive will be carried out at Kamakhya Temple area, harbari, Bangshi Bagan, Bharalumukh, Soram Field area, Soram Field up to the foothill of Kamakhya, Pandu camp, Maligaon Chariali to Old Pandu Station, Kamakhya Foothill to Kamakhya Railway StationĀ  and Kamakhya Railway Station. The drive is necessitated with the holding of the Ambubachi Mela in the city where lakhs of devotees gathered from various states of the country and from some neighbouring countries.

Non-governmental organizations that are interested to take part in the cleanliness drive are also requested to come forward and actively participate in the cleanliness drive. The NGOs are requested to inform the administration their mes, areas wherein they are interested to take up the cleanliness drive, mes and contact numbers of NGO personnel etc.

The district administration also requested all government departments, educatiol institutions, private organizations and citizens to take up an exhaustive cleanliness drive in their respective areas.

The district administration, along with GMC and Kamakhya Temple Magement Committee, seeks to conclude the Ambubachi Mela, 2016 with the cleanliness drive.
