Clear encroachments at Deepor Beel, orders Kamrup (M) DC

GUWAHATI, March 16: Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner along with Additiol Deputy Commissioner Pulak Mahanta, Additiol DCP Guwahati West District Amitabh Basumatari, Circle Officer, Azara, Maharshi Kashyap and Divisiol Forest Officer (DFO) Kamrup East Division, Ranjit Konwar visited Deepor Beel and adjoining area today morning and inspected the illegal encroachment and extraction of send and soil.

The team led by DC Dr Angamuthu started the inspection from Assam Engineering College side to the fringe area of Tetelia. During the inspection, DC found some illegal encroachment and loose soil dumped over the tural channels of water which has blocked its tural flow. By which tiol Highway may over flooded during the ensuing monsoon session and may caused artificial flood in the city.

The DC ordered the officials of concerned departments to take stern action against this kind of illegal activities.

DC Angamuthu also asked Revenue & Forest Department to make a thorough survey of entire Deepor Beel and to clear the entire blockage on tural channels flows to Deepor Beel as all to be freely flowed to the Deepor Beel. The DC also inspected the cleaning and beautification work at tiol Highway done by district administration from Jalukbari point to Khapara.
