CM asks WR department to prepare DPR

GUWAHATI, Oct 5: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Thursday instructed the State Water Resource department to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for construction of Express Highway along the entire length of the Brahmaputra in the State.  The Chief Minister has asked the department to prepare the DPR on time in a review meeting held at Dispur on Thursday.

Chief Minister Sonowal earlier had said that the State government has planned to start work the 890-km Express Highway along the entire length of the Brahmaputra in the state from Sadiya in the east to Dhubri in the west, which in turn would also help arrest river-bank erosion. “Our government has already taken up several measures to develop both banks of the mighty Brahmaputra and the proposed Brahmaputra Express Highway is an important step forward in this regard. We have already held three rounds of discussions with officials of the World Bank and Asian Development Bank in this regard,” Sonowal had said.
