GUWAHATI, Sept 20: A pall of groom descended in Dibrugarh following the arrival of the mortal remains of Girish Sonowal, the elder brother of Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, who passed away at AIIMS in New Delhi earlier in the day on Wednesday. He was 69. He leaves behind two daughters and a son, besides his wife. A part from the Chief Minister’s Cabinet colleagues, leaders of all parties in the State have condoled the death of Girish Sonowal. State Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Fince Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mourned the demise of Girish Sonowal. In separate condolence messages, they prayed for eterl peace of the departed soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. AGP president and State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, AGP working president and IT Minister Keshab Mahanta, APCC president Ripun Bora, State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass condoled the death of Girish Sonowal. A State BJP team left for Dibrugarh this evening to attend the funeral.
