CM for placing Batadrava Than in tourist circuit

GUWAHATI, April 19: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal laid stress on developing the birth place of Srimanta Sankardev Batadrava as an ideal place of religious and cultural tourism and he asked the office bearers of Batadrava Than to earmark the boundary of the Than and construct boundary walls.

Chairing a meeting of the office-bearers of the committee of Batadrava Than in the conference room of the Chief Minister in Jata Bhawan today, Sonowal said that the birth place of Gurujo will be developed and placed at the tiol and intertiol tourist circuit. He also asked the committee to prepare a blueprint and get it approved by an architect of intertiol repute.

Referring to the Golden Temple of Amritsar, Sonowal said that the architectural beauty has made Golden Temple an attractive tourist destition. Similarly, a well thought-out design and architecture is the need of the hour to make Batadrava Than a must visit tourist destition. Government will provide funds for the same as the State government will get in touch with the Cultural Affairs Ministry of the Central Government. He also said that funds will never be any dearth for developing Batadrava Than as an important tourist destition.

Sonowal also directed the Cultural Affairs Department and gaon District Administration to initiate arrangements for celebrating the birth anniversary of Late Gopith Bordoloi at Gopith Bordoloi Memorial  Museum at Raha. He also said that adequate steps will also be taken to modernize the museum. He also asked the PWD (R) to broaden the road that leads to Batadrava and said that the road will be converted into tiol high way.

Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, MLAs from Batadrava, Dhing, gaon and Raha, Xattradhikar of Salguri and Batadrava Xatra, office bearers of Batadrava Than Committee and senior officers of State Government were present at the meeting.
