CM orders probe into DSP’s death

GUWAHATI, Mar 6: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has ordered an inquiry into the death of Deputy Superintendent of Police (CID), Sadanda Hazarika. CID DSP Hazarika was killed in a road accident on NH-37 at Beharbari area of the city on Sunday night. Police said Hazarkia met with the accident when he was from Lalmati after dropping the driver of his vehicle.

Hazarika, who stayed at Games village, went to Lalamati from his home to drop the driver but the Xylo vehicle he was travelling in, rammed into a dumper at Beharbari area. However, mastery surrounds the incident, as to why the police officer proceeded towards Beharbari side instead of coming back home after dropping the driver. The Chief Minister has asked DGP Mukesh Sahay for an inquiry and submit report at the earliest.  DSP Hazarkia was an investigating officer of the multi-crore Agriculture department scam.  Sonowal said that Hazarika was an upright officer who rendered dedicated services to the state. He prayed to God for eterl peace of the departed soul and expressed his sympathy to the bereaved family members.
