CM stresses innovation in policies for good governce

GUWAHATI, Nov. 22: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal said that there is a constant need for innovation in the design and implementation of policies of the government to bring quality in work culture which is important for good governce, growth and transformation.

“It is time that we move from conventiol thinking to innovation. We promised people to provide good governce. The Innovation Lab Summit is one such step which will help in nurturing bureaucrats, politicians and citizens to be innovative and smartest in their job,” Sonowal said while iugurating a two day Innovation Lab Summit here on Wednesday.

A two day Innovation Lab Summit with an aim at promoting good governce by developing capacity to interlise innovation, co-design and co-develop mechanisms towards finding small scale achievable solutions to large scale problems has began at Assam Administrative Staff College here .

The summit is organized by the Transformation and Development Department, in collaboration with the United tions Development Programme (UNDP), the State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), Centre for Sustaible Development Goals (CSDGs) and Centre for Innovation and Future Studies (CIFS).

Terming North East as a “God gifted region of India”, the Chief Minister said that it is a challenge for the governments of the region to explore ways to harness their potential.

He further expressed the view that the endeavour of the state government would help in realizing good governce in Assam as promised by the government to the people.

Suggesting a mix of traditiol and modern ideas as an innovative approach for creating an institutiol roadmap for good governce, Sonowal urged the participants to bring in best ideas into the system to boost government’s transformative agenda.

Delving deep on the background of the Innovation Lab, Jakko Kuosmanen of Demos Helsinki appreciated Assam Government’s leadership in implementation of SDGs and said that the new step would lead to better coordition, involvement of people for formulation of better policies for good governce.

Stating that innovation is stagting and radical steps are required for transformation, Jakko Kuosmanen also viewed that the Innovation Lab would leverage implementation of Chief Minister’s Samagra Gramya Unyan Yoja in Assam.
