CMs opens yoga centre at Jata Bhawan

GUWAHATI, June 19: To create a space for the officers and employees to practice yoga after office hours at their work places, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal today iugurated a yoga-cum-wellness centre at Jata Bhawan in the city.

Since yoga is all  about helping an individual to achieve a more positive outlook on life and a focused, permanent sense of serenity and peace, the yoga and wellness, United tions Organization in response to Prime Minsiter rendra Modi’s request decided to commemorate June 21 as the Intertiol Day of Yoga.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said: “Yoga is a confluence of body, mind and soul. It is a way towards healthy body and mind. It is also a tool through which human beings are made to realize the core human values”. He also said that yoga must be given importance to create a society where human values rule the roost, a press release said.

Sonowal also called upon the people at large to practice and propagate yoga widely on every day not only on June 21. He also said that at least a 30-minute yoga practice daily by the employees would create a congenial atmosphere for the people at large to promote yoga.

In sync with the occasion Sonowal also administered a pledge to the employees of Janta Bhavan for regular practice of Yoga. A yoga demonstration by Patanjali Yog Prathisthan was also held.

State Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, Environment and Forest Minister Pramil Rani Brahma, Public Health Engineering Minister Rihon Daimary, Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia and others were present on the occasion.
