CM's Vigilance Cell summons Ranjit Gogoi

GUWAHATI, Nov 3: Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell has summoned Director of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Ranjit Gogoi asking him to appear before it on November 8, 2017 in connection with the DIPR scam.

After its prelimiry investigation into the scam, the Cell did lodge an FIR against Gogoi and four contractors regarding the ‘Mission Assam, Vision Assam’ campaign at the fag-end of the third term of former State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi when Assembly election in the State was knocking at the door. With the scandal coming to fore, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal asked CM’s Vigilance Cell to inquire into it. While Gogoi has been absent from duty, the then Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Commissioner-Secretary LS Changsan, now working as Principal Secretary in the department, has been relieved from the department. She, however, will continue to perform her other assignments in Home, Political, Border Protection etc departments. Additiol Chief Secretary Dr. AK Singh is to look after I & PR in her place now.
