Committed to welfare of all: Sonowal

GUWAHATI, Jan 22: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal said that the State Government is committed to ensure security to all people belonging to all faiths as people, irrespective of all affiliations, constitute a composite culture, a greater Assamese society.

Speaking at the Silver jubilee celebration function of Archdiocese of Guwahati at Soighuli in the city on Saturday evening, Sonowal said that people from all walks of life constitute an edifice on which the present government hinges and the Government is committed to ensure security to everybody belonging to all caste, creed, language or religion. He also urged the people belonging to all sections to work together to strengthen the greater Assamese society.

“Conceding that the biggest challenge of human is the society is the degradation of human values and the restoration of ethos and values will be his constant endeavour,” Sonowal maintained that beauty of humanity rests on understanding minds of fellow human beings which if done can unveil the truth of life.

Reiterating that the present Central and State Governments are for the welfare of all sections of the people, Sonowal said that Centre’s motto of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash’ is the driving force for the governments to work for the betterment of all the citizens of the country.

Earlier, Archbishop of Guwahati John Moolachira gave a brief introductory speech of journey of Archdiocese of Guwahati and the achievements it has made during its 25 years of service for the cause of humanity.

Several fathers, brothers, sisters and host of dignitaries from cross section of the society were present at the function.
