'Complete all projects within time-frame'

GUWAHATI, Oct 5: Chairing the review meeting of the Panchyat and Rural Development Department, departmental minister Rakibul Hussain on Monday instructed the Project Directors of DRDA and BDOs to complete all projects within the stipulated time.

"All projects should be strictly implemented and the Project Directors and the Block Development Officers should ensure it," the minister said.

The minister further said that all the open theatres med after Dr Bhupen Hazarika should be iugurated on November 5. It may be mentioned that though the government iugurated more than 188 open stages on the music maestros birth anniversary on Sept 8, some stages were could not be iugurated due to noncompletion of the projects. The minister instructed the officers to ensure that the remaining stages are iugurated on November 5, the day of maestros death anniversary.

He also stressed immediate completion of projects like Indira Gandhi Adarsha Gramin Poki Path, Swargadeo Rudra Singha Adarsha Pukhuri, Indira Awas Yoja etc.

The minister also instructed the officials to submit the list of beneficiaries of IAY by October 19.

Hussain also thanked the officers for their efforts and said, "You will have to take the schemes to the people for real implementation. Tell them about the changes Assam has underwent since 2001."

On the other hand, Commissioner of P & RD department KK Dwivedi said, "Don't approve any gravel roads. Ensure that within three years all roads of the State are of concrete."

Appealing to the officers to treat Morigaon Development Block as the model, he said: "Morigaon is now a model block in India with most of the rural roads made of concrete. Other districts should follow suit."
