Concern over atrocities on women

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 13: The Hindu Yuba-Chatra Parisahd: Asom (HYCPA) took the alleged atrocities on female TET teachers in various minority-domited areas in the State seriously. In a statement issued to the press on Wednesday, HYCPA president Balen Baishya and general secretary Dipankar Gohain said: “Three teachers – Usha Das of Lahorighat in Morigaon district, Chimpi Saikia of Balipara and Arnomai Bora of Kampur were harassed. The perpetrators even harassed and raped Arnomai, leading to her death. This makes it clear that a situation like that of Pakistan and Bangladesh is prevailing in minority-domited areas in Assam when it comes to women’s security. The parties and organizations of the State not raising their united voice against such incidents in the State are unfortute.”
