Concern over street vendors' eviction

GUWAHATI, Nov 13: The Hindu Yuba Chatra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA)’s Guwahati city committee has express strong reaction over sudden halt of the eviction drive against street vendors in the Guwahati city carried out by Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC). Expressing concern over the halt, HYCPA’s Guwahati city committee president Pradip Kalita and general secretary Bhaskar Bezbaruah in a statement said that the administration took a very good initiative by evicting the street vendors from the pavements, which created chaos in the city but due to unknown reason, the administration has suddenly stopped the drive. They also demanded the administration to make the reason public behind sudden halt of the drive and started the drive without any delay.
