Conflagration on NH-37 averted

DIMORIA, Nov 25: The Jorabat area had a rrow escape on Tuesday as a high-volt drama ensued there following the accident of an LPG Bullet (NL02G6285) carrying 17 tonnes of highly inflammable compressed LPG bound from Noonmati to Kameng in Aruchal Pradesh. The incident took place in the 13 Mile area of Jorabat at 11.30 pm.

The Bullet, reportedly lost control on the tiol Highway 37 and overturned on the road, blocking the tiol Highway. The driver and the handyman of the Bullet sustained injuries in the mishap.

The accident should raise an alarm in the area as due to the presence of LPG in the Bullet, the people panicked. Soon, fire and emergency services, Jorabat police, fire and emergency services of Indian Oil Corporation engineers rushed to the spot to ensure safety of the locality. After a long exercise of more than 15 hours, the 17 tonnes of LPG were transferred to 6 tankers following which normalcy returned to the area.

The police played a major role in ensuing safety by monitoring the entire area.

Due to the mishap, the tiol Highway 37 witnessed a heavy traffic congestion since this morning.
