Congress demands revival of paper mills

GUWAHATI, Oct 27: The Assam Congress along with the workers of Cachar Paper Mill and gaon Paper Mill, two units of the state-run Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) Limited, on Thursday staged a protest here seeking immediate resumption of production in the two mills.  The party also sent a memorandum to Prime Minister rendra Modi seeking his intervention to save the two industry units of HPC that remain closed for a year.  Along with the workers of the two mills, Congress leaders including APCC president Ripun Bora, opposition leader Debabrata Saikia, MP Sushmita Dev, former ministers Gautam Roy and Ajit Singh were present at the protest programme.
