Congress fast against  'atrocities' on ST, SC

GUWAHATI, April 9: The Congress in Assam staged a hunger strike at all district headquarters in the State in protest against, what the party said, atrocities on STs and SCs in the country and maintaining peace and harmony. In Guwahati, under APCC and Guwahati City District Congress Committee senior Congress leaders of the State were seen to fast at Ganesh Udyan. 
APCC president Ripun Bora, CLP leader Debabrata Saikia, a number of former and sitting MLAs were seen staging the fast in Guwahati. 
Talking to media, Ripun Bora said: “The BJP Government failed to meet the expectations of the people of the tion. The people of the country are suffering under the present dispensation at New Delhi. STs and SCs have to suffer a lot under this government. The government failed on all fronts. The people of the country have realized the futility of this government.”
