Congress hand behind beef politics in State: Aowal

GUWAHATI, Oct 16: The State Minority Morcha of the BJP has blamed it on the Congress for the current beef politics in the length and breadth of the country and Assam.

In a statement issued to the press today, State BJP’s Minority Morcha president Mominul Aowal said: “The Congress is directly involved in placing of beef and cow heads in Hindu religious places in the State. The Congress is out to create a commul uprising in the State so as to tilt the minority block votes in the State towards its favour. The recent arrest of Bajali Block Congress general secretary Mrigen Mazumdar and his friends Rantu Patgiri, Hemen Talukdar and Shovan Ali has proved this fact beyond doubt. This act is aimed at creating hatred towards the minorities in the State.”

The Morcha has also alleged that the recent Kumarpara incident in the Fancy Bazar area in the city was also provoked by the Congress. An office-bearer of the Kumarpara Jaamat Committee has lodged a petition before the Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner seeking not to allow any procession on the Bijaya Dashami with the idol of Goddess Durga near the Masjid in the area so as not to disturb the prayer at the Islamic religious place. “The Congress is out to do all such activities with the apprehension of losing its traditiol support base in the State. If the Congress-led government in the State has guts, it should arrest all the culprits involved in placing beef and cow heads in places of worships for Hindus and punish them,” he said.
