Congress leader in job to woo minorities

GUWAHATI, Oct 15: The Minority Department of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has entrusted Congress ideologue from Assam Rejaul Karim Laskar to draw a strategy for attracting religious minorities (Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and others) towards the Congress after visiting all the eight states of the region and holding interactions with Congress chief ministers, Congress Legislative Party leaders, State Congress presidents and other senior leaders of the party.  Laskar, who is former spokesperson of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, is also a prominent author and scholar.  As part of this exercise, Laskar today met Assam Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and Leader of Opposition in Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia. They had a detailed and fruitful discussion. Saikia gave some valuable suggestions regarding the strategy which Laskar will incorporate in his report.
