Congress raps Madani, blames BJP as well

GUWAHATI, Nov 15: Terming the statement of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind president Arshad Madani on NRC update as instigative and commul, the Congress in Assam has blamed it on the ruling BJP for the increasing debates on NRC update. In a statement issued to the press on Wednesday, the APCC said: “The statement made by Madani can never be supported. As a secular party, the Congress can never support such a statement. We don’t support the statement made by BJP MLA Shiladitya Dev, nor do we support what Madani said. We appeal to all parties concerned not to make any such statement. We never give any room for commul forces. Our stand on NRC update is clear – it should be updated based on the Assam Accord.”
