Construction equipment to be on display in city

GUWAHATI, February 24: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing ConMac 2015, a construction equipment exhibition, to provide a platform for display of the latest construction equipment available for infrastructure projects and to further develop the contractor base in the Northeast.

The initiative will also augment the local entrepreneurship skills and provide newer opportunities to the local youth, thereby accelerating socio-economic growth in the region, the CII claimed in a statement issued to the press.

The three-day event will be held at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati between February 27 and March 2015. Spread across an area of 2,00,000 sq.ft., with participation from over 120 companies based across the country, the event, according to the CII, is slated to be the largest exhibition on construction equipment in Eastern India.

“The event will be hosted by the Government of Assam and partnered by Aruchal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram and galand. The exhibition will expose the region to the latest technologies, equipment and construction machinery available for infrastructure projects, help create a robust contractor base in the region and augment local entrepreneurial skills. It will also make it easier and economical for the contractor base to access the latest technologies besides setting the base for imparting skill training to create employment opportunities,” the statement said.

The exhibitors’ profile includes players from construction equipment, leasing & fince companies, components and spare parts, commercial vehicle and aggregates and consumable’s industry. Delegates from the Borders Roads Organization, Defence Sector, Assam government departments and infrastructure companies, besides others are to visit the exhibition.

CII chairman Abhijit Barooah said: “ConMac 2015 will be an opportunity to meet prospective clients and dealers, network with industry associates and specialists, interact with experts and provide a platform to explore joint ventures and business linkages.”

Glenville da Silva, chairman, ConMac 2015 and vice president, Business Development Asia, Volvo Construction Equipment, said: “The event has gained immense response from the CE industry who shall actively participate and showcase the latest technologies and equipment, components and spare parts, allied products and services to cater the North East India market.”
