Convention to discipline Bihu function in December

GUWAHATI, Sept 20: The Coordition Committee of All Bihu Sanmilanis of Guwahati has decided to call a convention on December 12 and 13 this year so as to put an end to unpleasant incidents between organizers of Bihutalis and artistes as happened this year.

It is worth mentioning here that there were some unpleasant incidents regarding the dress code of artistes on Bihu function this year. A few of the incidents did escalate to a major problem that was somehow doused for the time being. However, a solution to the problem is still eluding. Such incidents do hurt the sentiments of culture vultures of the city who want to see their culture thrive.

On May 17 this year, the office-bearers of as many as 27 Bihutalis of Guwahati met to find a way out to such problems. They decided to call a convention at District library on December 12 and 13 to reach a consensus on such issues. The office-bearers of the Bihutalis of the city are also going to meet on September 27 so as to have a detailed discussion on the convention slated to be held in December.
