GUWAHATI, May 16: Sitajakhala Dugdha Utpadak Samabai Samiti Ltd (SDUSS) is going to give credit where credit is due on June 11, 2017 when the cooperative society is going to celebrate its 59th foundation day at Amlighat at Jagiroad. The society is going to honour persolities who have dedicated their lives for the development of dairy and livestock in the State even before the State Government opened its departments in the relevant fields.

Addressing the media at Guwahati Press Club here today, SDUSS president Ranjib Sarma said: “We’re going to honour two persolities – Bikash Bharali of Bokakahat for dairy and Pushpadhar Das of Baksa for integrated farming – on June 11 this year on the occasion of the 59th foundation day of the society. The award is Late ndalal Upadhay Farmers’ Award, 2017. Late Upadhay was a founder member of the society. He had dedicated his entire life for the dairy movement in the State.”

Sarma further said: “The movement has allured a section of educated youths towards dairy and livestock production, instead of hankering after white-collar jobs. While Bharali is an HS passed with BTEC tiol certificate in agriculture from Hadlow College, Kent, UK, Das is a Science graduate with Physics and PGDM from IIM, Bangalore.” Sarma said that the Samiti is going to import high-yielding cows from elsewhere in the country so as to yield 25-30 litres of milk by each of them against the existing yield of 8-10 litres by a cow, and give them to famers free of cost. “The society contributes to the dairy movement in the State through such activities,” he said.
