Cotton College adjudged third best in India

GUWAHATI, Nov 6: In what could be said as a heartwarming development for the people of the state, Guwahati-based Cotton College has been adjudged as the third best institution in India by the tiol Assessment and Accreditation Council (AC).

Cotton College fulfilled all the seven criteria set by AC. Cotton College has been categorized in the A++ grade with 3.76 points in the third cycle for having ‘quality status’ against 3.39 points in the second cycle in 2011. It has become the first college in the Northeast to have been given A++ grade. The College will continue to hold the position for 5 years.

Upon the assessment of all sides of the College and submission of the last report to the council by a three-member team from AC, Cotton College has been conferred the prestigious grade.

Government Mahindra College with 3.86 points and Hansraj Mahila Mahavidyalaya with 3.83 points of Punjab have been given in the first and second positions respectively. Jyoti Nivas College of Kartaka, Saint Joseph College of Kerela and Dev College of Punjab share the same third spot with Cotton College of Assam.  “It is a good that our college has been reaccredited with A++ grade by the AC. I convey my heartfelt wishes to the faculties, the former and present students, well-wishers for their hard work and support. I hope  continuous support of all to maintain this position to achieve more in the future,” Cotton College Principal Niroda Devi said. Physics Head of the Department Santanu Kumar Baishya, Coorditor Sarambha Ranjan Patgiri, English professor Gautam Sarma were also present at the press meet.
